Acupressure & Jin Shin Jyutsu

Acupressure and Jin Shin Jyutsu are based on the concept that energy flows through the body along specific pathways known as meridians. By gently touching certain points along these meridians, it is believed that energy blockages can be released, allowing energy to flow naturally and promoting overall well-being.

Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupressure shares the same underlying philosophy as acupuncture, but instead of using needles, practitioners apply gentle pressure with their hands and fingers to specific acupuncture/acupressure points.

When Jin Shin Jyutsu was introduced to the West, it was initially practiced only with humans. Thanks to the dedication and perseverance of Adele Leas in extending this practice to animals, many practitioners and pet parents today practice this modality to support the  wellbeing of their beloved animals.

While numerous studies in humans and some in animals have demonstrated the benefits of acupuncture for pain relief and other symptoms, large-scale studies validating the effectiveness of acupressure or Jin Shin Jyutsu in pets have yet to be conducted.

However, many clients and practitioners report positive outcomes and health improvements. In my experience, these modalities promote comfort and have a calming and soothing effect on pets, which can be particularly beneficial for those dealing with chronic pain or stress.
